Preparation

As we approach our end of the year Christmas event, the students are busy going through their final practices. A good deal of their performances is dancing to the music - relying on their coordination and motor skills and sense of rhythm.

Other 'unseen' factors that are equally, if not greater in importance, is their ability to focus. They'll need to call up these skills as they concentrate on delivering their performances (hopefully while enjoying the act itself), while dealing with wearing costumes, the anxiety of performing in front of a crowd, and the pressure of remembering each step and movement associated with choreography. It's a lot to take on for young learners but a great way to challenge and exercise many areas at once.

Here's to a successful and fun school Christmas celebration!
