Once a month each class at Oisca has their own cooking class. Students have an opportunity to learn about cooking techniques, food and nutrition, safe use of cooking tools and utensils, and exercise their fine motor skills and coordination. The menu is adjusted for each age group and can range from simple dishes to complicated - with any eye on student's ability and safety.
Here our youngest kindergarten class (ages 2-3 years) makes "Bumblebee Cookies." This ties in to their monthly class theme. This month their theme was "Mini Beasts of the Garden," in which they explored all types of insects.
First the teacher introduces them to the ingredients to be used. Then the teacher demonstrated how to prepare the dish. Students then have a go at it themselves. Finally, they get to admire and taste their very own creations. Bon Appetit!
